Bitrate is defined as the number of data points used to approximate the true waveform. Obviously, the higher the number, the more accurately the waveform is approximated. Radio streams are encoded (compressed) to a ‘bitrate’. The bitrate simply refers to the audio quality of the stream; this is measured in computer terms in ‘kbps – kilobits per second’ or ‘k’ for short.
Audio Streaming Quality Ranges
24 – 48kbps Plans – AM radio voice – Similar to shortwave radio (e.g. walkie-talkies).. It will work well for any music broadcast, or as a higher quality option for voice broadcasts.
64kbps Plans – FM radio Music – Using this bitrate will provide you a good quality to broadcast that works well for delivering more detailed quality music than 24-48kbps.
96kbps Plans – Higher quality music – Using this bitrate will provide you a higher quality broadcast that works well for delivering near CD quality music.
128kbps Plans - Recommended
128kbps Plans – CD quality music – It will provide you a excellent audio CD quality, a broadcast that deliver a good sound.
Above CD quality – Excellent HD quality audio. Provide a very detailed sound and clear.
